This webpage is an Unlisted U2D2 WebPage and is similar in spirt to the Fibonacci Encoding and Decoding page—but it produces much shorter encoded messages. When ASCII characters are converted to Fibonacci binary, the resulting output becomes far longer than the original text. This page, by contrast, creates messages that are typically shorter than the original, and it does so without using Fibonacci encoding. The resulting output also looks profoundly different from Fibonacci binary, and we refer to this method as U2D2 Encoding.

On the U2D2 website, if you encounter text that resembles the field of characters shown below, it means that some ASCII text has been U2D2-encoded. In most cases, this page can help you decode those messages back into their original, human-readable form. At least in theory. In some situations, we intentionally leave portions of such a message encoded—especially when they relate to a puzzle that still needs to be solved.

By the way, the ID number—FE267914296—is based on the 42nd Fibonacci number. However, we typically use FE267 as a shorthand or nickname for FE267914296, because lengthy Fibonacci numbers become unwieldy. The number 267 is neither prime, nor sphenic, nor part of the Fibonacci sequence, which helps ensure it won’t be confused with any other FE designation in the future.

Encoding Rules (Fixed)
  • Goal: Make messages shorter (never longer) while remaining reversible.
  • Method: Replace common strings (word + trailing space) with single non-ASCII token characters, then cloak remaining ASCII letters.
  • Input: ASCII text (plus optional line breaks). Tabs are not supported.
  • Note: A word followed by punctuation (e.g., word,) or end-of-line won’t match a word␠ rule.
  • Output: Compact opaque text that is visibly distinct from FE1123 bitstreams.
