PN907—Playing for Real

This page presents a Parabolic Narrative—Playing for Real—a metaphor designed to expose what’s broken in our economic systems.

From the very beginning, our monetary systems have been centralized—controlled from outside the businesses and communities where real value is actually created. Yet for most people, it’s hard to imagine an alternative. It’s like playing a flawed and unfair game without fully understanding the rules—or even realizing they can be changed.

John Maynard Keynes once wrote, “There is no subtler, no surer means of overturning the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose.” (Ironically, Keynes himself would later recommend exactly that: to debauch the currency.)

This narrative invites readers into the confusion and disorientation Keynes described. It puts you on the field, mid-game, where the scoreboard is unreliable, the rules are unclear, and the outcomes feel disconnected from effort.

That feeling—of helplessness in the face of an invisible unfairness—is deeply familiar to millions. People know, deep down, that something isn’t right. But without language or structure to name it, they remain players in a game they didn’t design—and have no power to change.

It’s incredibly difficult to diagnose what’s wrong with centralized monetary systems, let alone envision how to fix them. Some instinctively recognize that decentralization is the key. But how can a system so vast, so entrenched, be reshaped from within?

Playing for Real doesn’t answer that question outright—but it helps you feel it. And once you feel it, you may be ready to see new possibilities.
