FE1—About U2D2.com
And its Documentation Framework
The purpose of the U2D2 website is to explore and design systems through which imperfect people can cooperate effectively and ethically—a developing discipline called EconStitutionalism. The meaning of U2D2 is explained in two columns on the home page itself. This page is intended to describe the primary documentation types used in U2D2—CBA Descriptions (CBAs), Foundational Essays (FEs), Parabolic Narratives (PNs), and Whitepapers (WPs). It also explains the intentional semantic overloading of these abbreviations, allowing them to convey different, context-dependent meanings. In addition, this page explains the U2D2 numeric document identifiers, which are intentionally selected rather than assigned sequentially. Like the abbreviations themselves, these identifiers often carry multiple layers of meaning, allowing for multiple purposes.
The identifiers may reflect meaningful historical events, mathematical relationships, conceptual groupings, or other memorable associations that reinforce the ideas they represent. In many cases, the identifier itself becomes part of the narrative, linking related documents into a broader conceptual framework. In other cases, an identifier may be chosen simply because it is memorable or because it carries a symbolic association that may not be immediately apparent to casual readers.
CBA Descriptions outline the purpose, structure, and operating logic of each proposed Constitutional Business Alliance (CBA) within the U2D2 ecosystem. Whereas Foundational Essays develop the conceptual underpinnings of EconStitutionalism, CBA Descriptions focus on implementation—explaining how specific industries or domains can adopt decentralized governance, value-linked currencies, and checks-and-balances tailored to their unique operational environment. Each CBA Description presents a blueprint for how participating organizations collaborate, compete, innovate, and exchange verifiable value within a constitutionally guided framework. While primarily practical, these documents often reveal how abstract principles crystallize into real-world systems, making them the connective tissue between theory and application. Readers exploring the dynamics of a particular CBA—its internal governance, incentive structures, or value-linking mechanisms—will find these descriptions to be the authoritative reference.
You will find more information below about the numbering system of FEs and their relationship with special numbers, such as Fibonacci numbers, prime numbers. etc. Likewise, the numbering of CBAs often have some special significance also, such as CBA112, which is the Automation for People (A4P) CBA. The numbers 1, 1, and 2 are the beginning of the Fibonacci sequence. You can expect to find similar subtle hints in the numbering of other CBAs.
FEs—Foundational Elements, Foundational Essays, and Fibonacci Encoding. Foundational Elements (FEs) are the fundamental building blocks of the U2D2 ecosystem. They exist to explain, demonstrate, organize, or otherwise support the concepts, architecture, and operation of U2D2. While many FEs take the form of traditional essays, others may be interactive tools, simulations, diagrams, timelines, calculators, reference pages, navigational aids, or other reusable resources. What they share is not their format, but their foundational role.
One important class of Foundational Elements is the Foundational Essay. These essays clarify first principles, trace intellectual lineages, and articulate the structural logic underlying EconStitutionalism, Constitutional Business Alliances (CBAs), Value-Linked Currencies (VLCs), and related frameworks. Other Foundational Elements are more informational or functional in nature and may not resemble essays at all. Some exist solely as webpages, while others are accompanied by downloadable PDF documents.
Many Foundational Elements have corresponding documents in other U2D2 series. When a topic warrants more extensive discussion, it may be paired with a White Paper (WP), Constitutional Business Alliance (CBA) proposal, Parabolic Narrative (PN), or another document type using the same identifying number. For example, FE610 addresses The Quantity Theory of Money (QTM), while WP610 expands upon that foundation by reframing money as Liquid Human Achievement (LHA). Sharing an identifier signals a close conceptual relationship while allowing each document to serve a distinct purpose.
Some Foundational Elements are intended primarily as tools for navigating or understanding the U2D2 website itself. These include reference pages, encoding tools, explanatory diagrams, and other resources that help visitors interpret the structure of the site. Certain FEs are also designated as Unlisted Webpages, making them intentionally isolated from normal navigation—analogous to unlisted phone numbers. In some cases, discovering these pages is itself part of the learning experience or a puzzle woven into the broader U2D2 framework.
The abbreviation FE also intentionally alludes to Fibonacci Encoding—a mathematical representation of numbers using combinations of Fibonacci values. Accordingly, the numbering of Foundational Elements serves not merely as an identifier but, in many cases, as an additional layer of meaning. Many FE identifiers are drawn from the Fibonacci sequence—such as 144, 233, or 610—and may signify deeper conceptual relationships, historical references, or embedded clues intended for attentive readers.
Not every FE uses symbolic numbering, but many do. Some identifiers commemorate historically significant years, such as the birth of an influential thinker, the publication of a foundational work, or the year an earlier essay was originally written. Others employ mathematically significant values—including prime numbers, twin primes, Fibonacci numbers, and sphenic numbers, where the numerical properties reinforce the ideas being presented. For example, FE429 and FE430 use consecutive sphenic numbers, while FE610 is both a Fibonacci number and the smallest Fibonacci number that is also sphenic (610 = 2 × 5 × 61). Sometimes a Foundational Essay is paired with a Parabolic Narrative using the same base number. At other times, related documents are intended to be discovered only through intentional exploration and curiosity. Some of these could be Unlisted U2D2 documents, with no direct links on the U2D2 website.
The numbering system occasionally creates meaningful relationships between separate Foundational Elements. For example, FE610 examines the Quantity Theory of Money (QTM), while FE907 explores the Quantity Theory of Money—Decentralized. Again, the number 610 is a Fibonacci number and the number 907 is prime, and together 610 and 907 sum to 1517—the year Nicolaus Copernicus first described what later became known as the Quantity Theory of Money. Such numerical relationships are not accidental; they form part of the U2D2 architecture, rewarding readers who recognize such patterns embedded throughout the system.
Parabolic Narratives (PNs) use story, analogy, and dramatized scenarios to illuminate the human dynamics behind EconStitutionalism, CBAs, VLCs, and other U2D2 concepts. They operate in a different register than Foundational Essays—less formal, more illustrative, and often more accessible—yet they frequently carry insights that would be harder to convey through technical explanation alone. In U2D2, the abbreviation “PN” also gestures toward Prime Number, a subtle symbolic layer woven into the numbering of these narratives. When a Parabolic Narrative is assigned a prime number (such as 101, 149, or 503), it may indicate added narrative significance, a structural parallel, or an interpretive twist embedded within the story.
Other PN numbers may reflect meaningful historical dates, thematic alignments, or internal connections across document types—but not all PNs contain such features. Readers familiar with prime-number structure may notice patterns or anomalies within certain narratives that invite closer inspection. A few PNs may even participate in deeper, puzzle-oriented relationships across the U2D2 framework, where clues embedded in stories correspond to mathematical or thematic patterns found elsewhere. These elements are optional for the casual reader, but those who enjoy uncovering hidden structure may find the numbering of certain PNs to be part of a larger, discoverable design.
Whitepapers (WPs) provide the analytical and technical foundation for the U2D2 ecosystem. Whereas Foundational Essays establish first principles and philosophical context, Whitepapers explore how those principles can be translated into practical systems, institutional architectures, implementation strategies, and engineering designs. Their purpose is not merely to describe ideas, but to define them with sufficient clarity that they can be evaluated, challenged, refined, and ultimately implemented.
Within U2D2, Whitepapers examine subjects such as Constitutional Business Alliances (CBAs), Value-Linked Currencies (VLCs), Ownership Exchange Infrastructure (OEI), Constitutional Engineering, decentralized governance, and other technologies and institutional frameworks that contribute to a decentralized, verifiable, value-driven economy. They serve as the primary research documents for readers who wish to examine the reasoning, assumptions, and operational details underlying these proposals.
The modern significance of the technical Whitepaper was transformed in 2008 with the publication of Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System. More than describing a new technology, it demonstrated that a carefully reasoned Whitepaper could introduce an entirely new technological architecture and inspire widespread research, development, and implementation. In doing so, it fundamentally broadened expectations about what a Whitepaper could accomplish. The accompanying sidebar provides additional historical context about this landmark publication.
Although the abbreviation WP originally stood for “White Paper,” within the U2D2 ecosystem it has evolved into a broader document designation. Most WPs are U2D2 Whitepapers, while others may be Working Papers or Web Pages, depending on their purpose. The abbreviation WP may also refer to Widmanstätten Patterns, whose distinctive crystalline structures will become relevant in later discussions. As the U2D2 ecosystem continues to evolve, additional specialized uses of the WP designation may be introduced where they help clarify the purpose of a particular document.
Business Plans (BPs) are not normally shown, unless a user has logon authority and applicable permissions. Business plans are related to the particular CBA with which they are associated. Consequently, access to business plans will be through their associated CBA Description pages. The Business Plan for Methselean Research is shown to everyone as an example.
