This page explains how the Zeckendorf Redirect page uses Fibonacci-encoded binary strings to serve as surrogate hyperlinks within U2D2. This page is also an Unlisted U2D2 web page, meaning there are no direct links in U2D2 navigating users to this page.

How the Zeckendorf Redirect page works

When users hover over a link to the Zeckendorf Redirect page they only see https://www.u2d2.com/zr in the destination URL in the status bar at the bottom of the browser window. That link takes them to the /zr/ page. Then the redirect page decodes an encoded URL stored in the “FibZec” variable to redirect the user to the actual destination page.

To illustrate, consider web page WP1123, which explains how Fibonacci-encoded binary strings can serve as surrogate hyperlinks within U2D2. Since WP1123 is itself an “Unlisted” U2D2 web page we haven’t given a direct link. Instead there are three ways to get there:

1. You can navigate directly there by copying this URL and pasting it into your web browser—https://www.u2d2.com/wp1123/
2. You can click this Zeckendorf Redirect link which takes you to WP1123 by way of the  Zeckendorf Redirect page described above.
3. You can copy an encoded URL onto your clipboard and use the FE1123—Fibonacci Encoding and Decoding page to decode it. The Fibonacci encoded URL for WP1123 is shown here.
